Old Games

I brought a game from the state with me called Neverwinter Nights.

This game is based on the old paper-RPG Dungeons and Dragons.

I used to play games like that with my friends a very long time ago when I had friends outside of work.

Playing Neverwinter Nights really reminds me of the feeling I used to get from playing RPG's with friends, and also from reading the game books and novels that accompany the games.

Games like The Elder Scrolls try to give this same feeling. However, I noticed, when playing Neverwinter Nights, that they do not produce this same feeling in me.

Previously I tried playing NN because a friend of mine recommended that I try it so I could join him on his server, a nice feature of this game. So, I got my own copies of the game and expansions. I tried playing it and I hated it!

I didn't like the interface or controls. That was enough of a turn-off that I shelved the game for 4 years.

I decided I'd keep the game, thinking that Siew's brothers might like the game, so I brought it with me to Malaysia. On a whim I decided to install the game to play.

Now I really like the game and the controls are not an issue for me at all. I am not sure what I did wrong before, but this game is a keeper and something that I can continue to enjoy even if it is very old (first released in 2002).
