Travel, travel, travel!

We are about to head out of the house to hit the LRT to catch another train to Penang. Tomorrow we will visit the doctor to have a baby-related check-up. On Saturday we will be heading to Thailand with Siew's family for a 1 night stay trip.

We will be heading back on Monday via train.

We will be doing a lot of traveling in a short amount of time!

Hopefully we come back more rested than we leave. . hopefully!

I will put some pictures up when we get back.

Well, that sucks

The replacement drive started making strange noises and now is not working.

What the hell is going on with Seagate?????

I did some reading and it seems they have had a lot of problems with their drives recently.

I just want a stable drive to back things up on. Is that so much to ask for? Sheesh!

Replacement

Well, I have my Seagate recertified harddrive replacement hard drive now.

I am formatting the drive as I type. After this I am going to keep a true backup of my data on this and another drive that I have.

I have managed to reacquire about 198 gigabytes of my lost anime. . . out of 890 gigabytes lost when the new drive died.

I will not try to get all of that lost data back. Instead, I will get things I want to watch and keep. If I watch it and do not think I will watch it in the future, I will delete it.

Hopefully this drive holds out. I have never had a problem with a Seagate drive before, hopefully that was the first and last time.

Playday

Well, we took my boss, her two sisters and their kids (one 11 year old boy, one 9 year old boy and a 4.5 year old girl) up to Genting Highlands today.

Pei Tze attended in order to keep Siew company, and to have some fun herself (and get out of KL for a while).

Timm, a co-worker, and one of his flat-mates, Marilyn, also joined us.

At first things were a bit rough. Normally they have a ticket deal that lets you buy a bus ticket and theme park tickets together. Today, however, they did not have that for some reason. So, we had to hire taxis to go up to Genting.

The cab that I was in had an insane driver. Taxis here in Malaysia are NOT sports cars. They are not well-maintained either. . . But our driver was driving like he was in a race to the top of the mountain!

We all took a cable car up the rest of the way. Apparently May could not take the cable car very well though. She looked very ill when she got out of the cable car!

After that May and her son Jason were very cold. One of the reasons I like Genting and Cameron is the fact that it IS cool in those places. But it is NOT that cold. Whatever.

We all went and ate at a Chinese food place. After that we went to play.

Timm, Marilyn, Andy, Jason and I went to the outdoor theme park. The first ride we went on was an elevator drop. Jason refused to go and Marilyn did not want to go. It was not bad at all. Tim complained that they do not give warning before the drop. For me that was normal, so I do not care about that. Andy thought it was really fun.

After that we rode a stupid boat ride. Jason did not want to do much of anything, but Andy wanted to do things.

We wasted 12 Ringgit for the boys to play some carnival style rip-off games. They played a cork gun game. Jason knocked all of the bottles over, but you do not win unless you knock the bottles OUT of the ring. *rolls eyes*

Jason also was really interested in a ring-toss game. I told him to watch people play. You can not win those games. That is why I call them rip-off games.

After that we went to an indoor archery range. Timm did not want to play, so the rest of us shot arrows. The staff there were strange. They are supposed to coach you. However, they coached placing three fingers below the knocked arrow. I was taught to place my index finger over the knocked arrow and the others below the arrow. Timm had previously worked in a summer camp and he taught kids that way as well.

The staff freaked out when I started shooting that way. They really did not understand when I told them I had been taught to do it this way. I have not shot arrows since I was about Jason's age (11) but I did pretty good for someone who has not shot since middle school!

Here is me shooting:

Sorry about the darkness. I am too lazy to clean these images up and Cameraman Timm is not that good with a camera?

Here are some pictures of my grouping (my target was target number 13, click to enlarge):

I will not post the pictures of the kids here. I am not sure that that is the correct thing to do without their parents' permission. However, Marilyn's grouping was not that good either. . . I am not sure if she has shot before or not. Not that it matters.

After that we tried to get on some other rides. We wanted to ride another roller-coaster, but Jason did not want to, again.

We finally settled on Jason and I going to the go-karts and the rest going on a coaster.

We waited in line forever, but things were too slow! After getting about half-way there and seeing that we would have to wait another 30 minutes or more to drive, I suggested we get our group together and go play in an arcade.

I hate to say this. . . but Jason is a SISSY! His younger cousin, Andy, is a much more daring boy.

In the arcade we played for a little bit. I found my punching machine and managed to beat the high-score and then beat my own high score. The next time around I did not do as well. I really blame that on the machine though. The machine started to have a problem that the pad hits and bounces up without catching, so the hit does not register correctly! Oh well, next time I can beat 1600!

After that we had a mad-dash to the cable cars to get to the bus and come back home. Jessica apparently did not have a comfortable trip. As soon as we were in the terminal she went to the toilet to throw-up.

Now, what do I want to eat? I am tired and hungry and my legs are a bit sore, but I had fun.

Picasa

Ok, I have downloaded and installed Google Picasa in an attempt to use more pictures. However, there's a limit of 4 pictures placed by Picasa that makes it a pain in the ass to post lots of pictures.

So, just to be nice, I'll let you enjoy the scenery that I enjoyed so much on the way down from Cameron:

See pictures here on my Picasa page

Tomato Sauce

I am not sure that I have posted pictures of the tomato sauce in the making, so here you are:

Fresh tomatoes

Blanched tomatoes

Blanched tomatoes cut into halves

Seeds and liquid separated from tomato flesh

Sliced tomato flesh

Due to limitations (four pictures at a time placed by Google Picasa) the third picture was placed differently than the rest of the pictures, hence the size difference. I am too lazy to fix it at this time, sorry.

Bad Guy!

Our landlady's husband replaced our sink faucet several months ago. When he did so he borrowed my screwdriver to work on it. He also, I saw him, used our kitchen knife. He used it as a prying tool.

When they were done, they left. I looked for the screwdriver and it was missing. He had taken it. Siew contacted the landlady and found that he had taken it. I am not sure if it was an accident or on purpose. It was a cheap screwdriver.

Siew then found the knife he had borrowed without asking. He mangled the tip of the knife (see pictures below). When Siew contacted the landlady her husband admitted to having done that.

Here is the part that bugs me. How the hell can use something without asking, damage it, put it back differently than it was there before and expect NOT to get caught? Fucking moron.

Anyway, I used some heat and a hammer and repaired the damage done to the knife. See the pictures below to see the damage he caused:

Crappy Food

If you see this logo:

Do not eat here.

I am not sure if I have posted this before, but even if I have, it is worth posting again.

This place is expensive and terrible.

Never ever go here. If they make effort to change their food and make it palatable, then maybe I will eat there. Maybe.
